Hello, my name is Rusty Shackleford, and I'm a general fighting in WW1 for Austria-Hungary. We all got involved in this horrible war when a terrorist organization known as the black hand assassinated the Archduke Franz Furdinand during a peaceful visit to Seriavo, the capitol Serb city. We were outraged at this atrocity, and launched a war on the people responsible, Serbia. At this time, Germany and Britain had some tension between them caused by militarism, or the glorification of war, when they were competing over who had the better navy.

Our plan is to pool our forces and resources with Germany, to try to take the war in our favor. The Germans have a good plan, called the Sheiflen plan. They want to march through Belgium then quickly take France by storm. They French will be overrun and out numbered. It will be a quick and easy victory. The Russians will not be able to make it in time, and when they get there, France will be ours and we will take them out while they are weak.

external image pp_ger_10.jpgThis is a poster found in our country and Germany. It is trying to get people to join up to the military and support our troops maning the front lines. One technique it uses is emotional symbols, it portrays men in uniform out in the trenches.

When Russia left the war, it was a big relief. It gave our people hope and a bigger chance at winning the war, but when the Americans came and the US joined the war it was a major blow to soldier morale. Not only that, but it gave our enemies new and refreshed troops. This was very bad for our chances of winning. They had energy and enthusiasm about this war, while our troops war tired and sick of it.

When the Treaty of Versailles was signed, we knew we had lost the war for good. The germans were outraged at the fact that they had to pay so much in reparations and take the full blame of the war, not to mention give up land that was rightfully there's. We were also outraged. No one nation could be blamed for what had happened, we were all to blame. The germans should pay some reparations, but not all of it. They even stripped them of there overseas colonies. Of all the things that happened to germany, not one other country suffered from the outcome. The other countries still had there colonies and didn't have to pay a dime for what they did to other nations like Germany. Forcing this much unjustice on one nation can only breed more hate and lead to more violence.
